Hayley Turner is a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, currently pursuing her Bachelor's in General/Choral Music Education. Throughout her childhood, she was involved in music, from private piano lessons to participation in the Greensboro Youth Chorus. She began piano lessons at the age of seven, and continued under the instruction of Monica Hix until her Junior year in high school. She attended Weaver Academy for the Performing and Visual Arts, studying piano with Mark Freundt, a locally famous Jazz pianist.
During her middle school and high school years, she sang with the Greensboro Youth Chorus under the direction of Tom Shelton, Nana Wolfe-Hill, and Ann Doyle. At the beginning of her Junior year of high school, when she stopped taking private piano lessons outside of school, she picked up private voice lessons with Dr. Rydell Harrison, who prepared her for the undergraduate audition that eventually got her accepted at UNCG’s School of Music. She now studies voice at UNCG with Dr. Robert Bracey.
Hayley plans to continue her coursework at UNCG after a semester abroad in Plymouth, England this Fall 2016. She intends to fulfill the International Honors requirements as she continues her studies as both a music student and a student within the Lloyd International Honors College. After graduation, Hayley plans to teach for a few years to gain some experience and then return to school for her Masters in Music and Divinity, and eventually pursue her Doctorate or PhD in music.
